Checking fan motor passenger compartment temperature sensor

- Ignition off.
- Remove passenger compartment temperature sensor according to Replacing passenger compartment temperature sensor (ECC) Removal and Replacement. Leave the sensor connected.
- Ignition on.
- Start blower fan on manual speed, the blower fan sensor fan motor should start.
Check that fan motor in the temperature sensor is operating.

Is the fan working?

Yes - Intermittent fault.

No - Checking components and cables

-------------------------------------------------

Checking components and cables
Check cable between ECC control module #B8 and passenger compartment temperature sensor terminal 4 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check that the fan motor is OK, the fan turns easily and the motor is not short-circuited internally.
Remedy as necessary.

Other information:
- To remove the control module, refer to Replacing ECC control module Removal and Replacement.
- To access/replace the passenger compartment temperature sensor, refer to Replacing passenger compartment temperature sensor (ECC) Removal and Replacement.
- Breakout box connection, refer to Connection of breakout box ECC Connection of Breakout Box ECC.
- Voltage on the control signal lead should be battery voltage approximately when the fan is activated. For other values, refer to Signal specification ECC Signal Specification ECC.
