Faulty Signal

Faulty signal

Checking function of power unit

- Ignition on.
- Select a Manual control setting on the blower fan switch.
- Read off status of power unit communication.
Check that communication is working correctly.
If communication is OK then the status will be OK, if it is not OK then the status reading will be NOT OK

Is communication OK?

Yes - Intermittent fault

No - Checking connectors

-------------------------------------------------

Checking connectors

- Ignition off.
- Check and remedy the ECC control module and power unit connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check any damage etc.
- To remove the control module, see Replacing ECC control module Removal and Replacement.
- To access the power unit, refer to Replacing the power unit (Electronic climate control) Replacing the Power Unit (Electronic Climate Control).
- Reinstall components, reconnect connectors etc.
- Ignition on.
- Select a Manual control setting on the blower fan switch.
- Read off status of power unit communication.
Check that communication is working correctly.
If communication is OK then the status will be OK, if it is not OK then the status reading will be NOT OK
If communication is now OK this indicates that the fault was caused by in poor contact in the connectors.

Is communication OK?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - Checking cables

-------------------------------------------------

Checking cables
Check cable between ECC control module #A14 and power unit terminal #A2 for an open circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
If cables are OK, try a new power unit.
Remedy as necessary.

Other information
- To access/replace the blower power unit, refer to Replacing the power unit (Electronic climate control) Replacing the Power Unit (Electronic Climate Control).
- Connection of breakout box to ECC control module, refer to Connection of breakout box ECC Connection of Breakout Box ECC.
- The voltage on the signal cable varies between approximately 0.22-2.5 V. For other values, see Signal specification ECC Signal Specification ECC.
