Signal Too Low

Signal too low

Checking passenger compartment temperature sensor

- Ignition on.
- Read off the temperature in the passenger compartment.
Check that the temperature reading obtained is correct. Compare with the actual air temperature. If the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) stored is a permanent fault a substitute value of approximately 22°C (71.6°F) will be displayed.

Is the temperature reading OK?

Yes - Intermittent fault

No - Checking components and cables

-------------------------------------------------

Checking components and cables
Check passenger compartment temperature sensor resistance. For resistance values, see ECC electrical specifications [1][2]Electrical Specifications.
Check cable between ECC control module #B6 and passenger compartment temperature sensor terminal 5 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

Other information:
- To access/replace the passenger compartment temperature sensor, see Replacing passenger compartment temperature sensor (ECC) Removal and Replacement.
- To remove the control module, refer to Replacing ECC control module Removal and Replacement.
- To connect the breakout box, see Connection of breakout box ECC Connection of Breakout Box ECC.
- The voltage on the signal cable varies with temperature. At 20 °C (68°F) voltage should be approximately 2.5 V. For other values, see Signal specification ECC Signal Specification ECC.

Fault-tracing information

Information

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.

Do you want to exit fault-tracing?

Yes - Exit fault-tracing

No - Attempt New Test

-------------------------------------------------

Intermittent fault
Check cable between ECC control module #B6 and passenger compartment temperature sensor terminal 5 for an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
Remedy as necessary.

Other information:
- To remove the control module, refer to Replacing ECC control module Removal and Replacement.
- To access/replace the outer temperature sensor, refer to Replacing outside temperature sensor (Electronic climate control) Removal and Replacement.
