Current too high. Permanent fault
Mechanical check
Carry out the mechanical check according to Mechanical check Mechanical Check.
Carry out further mechanical checks. See Replacing and adjusting the striker plate for the cover Replacing and Adjusting the Striker Plate for the Cover.
Was a fault found?
Yes - Checking the connectors
No - Mechanically checking the wiring
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the connectors
- Check control module connector C and the connectors for the micro-switches. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. See Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. See Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Read off the program status of the convertible top. Check the values at the relevant step.
Remedy as necessary.

-------------------------------------------------
Mechanically checking the wiring
- Check that the micro-switches appear intact
- Remedy as necessary
- Ignition on
- Connect the Volvo Scan Tool (ST).
Read off the status of the micro-switches.
Operate the micro-switches manually.
The status should change from activation (micro-switch on) to non activation (micro-switch off).
Other information:
- Replacing the control module Service and Repair

- There is a short-circuit to ground if the status is constantly low
- There is an open-circuit or a short-circuit to voltage if the status is constantly high.
Hint: The micro-switch can be activated by hand or using a pointed tool. Be careful.
Hint: The micro-switches are connected in series for the left and right cover locks.
Does the status for both micro-switches change?
Yes - Verification
No - Checking the component
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the component
- Disconnect the relevant micro-switch
- Ignition on.
Connect a voltmeter between micro-switch terminal #1 and ground.
Activate the micro-switch manually so that it is active throughout the test
Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Replace the micro-switch if a short-circuit is found.
Remedy as necessary.

Checking the component
- Ignition off.
Connect an ohmmeter between micro-switch connector terminals #1 and #2.
Activate the micro-switch manually so that it is active throughout the test
Test for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Replace the micro-switch if an open-circuit is found.
If no fault is found there is probably a fault in the cable between the control module and the micro-switch connector.
Remedy as necessary.
