Faulty Signal. Permanent Fault
Faulty signal. Permanent fault
Checking pump motor function
- Ignition off.
- Check control module and pump motor connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
- Reconnect components, connectors etc.
- Ignition on.
- Activate pump motor.
Check that the pump motor starts and operates normally.
If the pump motor starts and seems to operate normally the cause of the fault was contact resistance and oxidation in the control module or pump motor connectors.
Other information:
- To disconnect control module and pump motor, see Replacing the control module Service and Repair.
Is the pump function OK?
Yes - Fault has been remedied
No - Checking wiring and components

Checking wiring and components
Check wiring between control module #25 and battery for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check that fuse 4 in the integrated relay/fusebox in the engine compartment is intact. If the fuse is blown, check cable between fuse and control module #25 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and then replace fuse.
Remedy as necessary.

Checking pump motor
Temporarily connect an unfused cable between pump motor connector:
- #2 and battery positive terminal
- #1 and battery negative terminal.
When the cable is connected to the battery the motor should start. Run for a maximum of 10 seconds.
Remove temporary cables.
