Signal Missing. Permanent Fault

Signal missing. Permanent fault

Checking wheel sensor connector

- Ignition off
- Disconnect control module.
- Check relevant wheel sensor and ABS control module connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
- Connect control module.
- Raise car so the relevant wheel is clear of ground.
- Ignition on.
- Read off wheel speed for relevant wheel.
Spin the relevant wheel and check that wheel speed is updated.

Other information:
- To disconnect wheel sensor connector, see Rear wheel sensor, with integrated cabling, replacement Rear Wheel Sensor, With Integrated Cabling, Replacement.
- To disconnect ABS control module connector, see Replacing the control module Service and Repair.

Is wheel speed updated?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - Checking cables and sensors

Checking cables and sensors
Check cable for power supply between wheel sensor connector:

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ABS-0030 Left rear wheel sensor
#1 and control module #6

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ABS-0040 Right rear wheel sensor
#1 and control module #22
for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Hint: With the ignition on, voltage should be approximately 1 V below Ubat measured on the ground terminal.

Check signal cable between wheel sensor connector:

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ABS-0030 Left rear wheel sensor
#2 and control module #5

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ABS-0040 Right rear wheel sensor
#2 and control module #23
for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals.
Check sensor (with the sensor connected) by switching on ignition and measuring signal from sensor between breakout box:

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ABS-0030 Left rear wheel sensor
#5 and ground terminal.

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ABS-0040 Right rear wheel sensor
#23 and ground terminal.
Voltage should vary approximately 1 V when the pulse wheel is rotating. Replace wheel sensor if voltage is faulty.
Remedy as necessary.

Other information:
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the ABS breakout box Connecting the ABS Breakout Box.
- To replace the wheel sensor, see Rear wheel sensor, with integrated cabling, replacement Rear Wheel Sensor, With Integrated Cabling, Replacement.
- To disconnect control module, see Replacing the control module Service and Repair.
