Lower A post trim, alignment

Background
The lower A post trim, between the fender and cowl may become loose causing a misalignment. Should a customer be concerned about the alignment, reattach trim according to the method described herein.





Materials

End piece trim moulding A-pillar, deformed

Lower A post trim, alignment

Remove

Remove

Remove the lower A post trim.

Start by removing the clip.





Pry up with a plastic trim tool to disengage the hooks on the front side.

Pull the trim forward~ inward to get it out without damaging the hooks.

Detach and clean

Note!
The surfaces that are to be bonded must be free of grease.





Clean all the mating surfaces using mineral spirits.

Clean again using cleaner H.

Hint:
Remove any double-sided adhesive tape and replace with new double-sided adhesive tape if necessary.

Install

Bond and install





Apply adhesive to surfaces 1-3 as illustrated.

Install the end trim. Press into place in reverse order described in step 1. Hold in place for a short time until the adhesive has cured.

Note!
Avoid excess. Remove any excess from painted surfaces immediately.

Check that there are no gaps at the mating surfaces 1-3.

Reinstall

Note!
At this point the the trim should be reinstalled!





Ensure catch (A) is hooked onto the windshield edge.

Reinstall the attachment clip in cowl for lower A post trim.
