Knock Sensor: Service and Repair




REPLACING KNOCK SENSOR (KS)




Removing knock sensor (KS)
Drain the fuel injection system forwards of the fuel filter.
Remove
- the intake manifold between the front cover plate and the air cleaner (ACL) housing




- intake manifold between the air cleaner (AC L) and throttle body (TB) with vacuum hoses
- throttle body (TB)
- vacuum hoses to intake manifold, left-hand side
- the fuel rail cover
- the ignition coils cover, left-hand side
- the crankcase ventilation hose from the top




- fuel rail
- fuel delivery hose from fuel delivery pipe
- air distribution pipe




- dipstick pipe
- bracket screw on the underside of the intake manifold
- intake manifold
- intake manifold vacuum hose, right-hand side




- sensor
- connector.


Installing knock sensor (KS)



Install
- the sensor. Route the cable behind the starter motor bracket and tighten to 20 Nm (14.75 lb.ft).
- connector




- new gasket to intake manifold
- vacuum hoses to intake manifold, right-hand side
- intake manifold. Tighten to 17 Nm (12.54 lb.ft)
- bracket screw on the underside of the intake manifold
- dipstick pipe
- air distribution pipe
- fuel delivery hose from fuel delivery pipe
- fuel rail with new screws. Tighten to 10 Nm (7.4 lb.ft)




- the crankcase ventilation hose to the top
- the ignition coils cover, left-hand side
- the fuel rail cover
- vacuum hoses to intake manifold, left-hand side
- the throttle body (TB) with new gasket. Tighten to 17 Nm (12.54 lb.ft)
- intake manifold between the air cleaner (ACL) and throttle body (TB) with vacuum hoses




- the intake manifold between the front cover plate and the air cleaner (ACL) housing.
