Description of Parameters




DESCRIPTION OF PARAMETERS, DENSO

Hint: Not all the parameters described need to be implemented in the control module. This varies between different systems and markets.

PARAMETERS, VALUE

Speed (km/h)
Measurement range 0-255 km/h
The value displays the vehicle speed.

Hint: Miles per hour in certain markets.

Engine speed (rpm)
Measurement range 0-10400 rpm.
The control module derives the engine speed (RPM) from the engine speed (RPM) sensor signal.
The idle speed varies depending on the engine coolant temperature (ECT) (850 ± 50 rpm).

Battery voltage (V)
Measurement range 0-20 V.
The normal value is 13-14.5 V when the generator (GEN) is charging.
The value indicates the voltage at the engine control module (ECM).

Engine coolant temperature (ECT) (°C)
Measurement range -40 to +120°C.
The control module derives the temperature from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor signal.

Engine coolant temperature sensor (V)
Measurement range 0-5 V.
Operating range 0.28- 4.83 V. The voltage drops as the temperature rises.

Atmospheric pressure (Pa)
Measurement range 0-2267 hPa.
The value indicates atmospheric pressure at the engine control module (ECM). Normal value at sea level is 1,013 hPa.

Outside temperature (°C)
Measurement range 40 to +120°C.
The engine control module (ECM) derives the temperature from the outside temperature sensor signal.

Outside temperature sensor, signal (V)
Measurement range 0-5 V.
Operating range 0.09-4.62 V. The voltage drops as the temperature rises.

Accelerator pedal (AP), analog (%)
Measurement range 0-100 %.
Analog signal from the accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor to the engine control module (ECM).
The value indicates the accelerator pedal (AP) position.
Approximately 8 %= the accelerator pedal (AP) completely released.
Approximately 88 %= the accelerator pedal (AP) completely depressed.
The analog signal is usually used by the engine control module (ECM).

Hint: The value must follow the parameter "Accelerator pedal (AP), PWM".
Accelerator pedal (AP), PWM (%)
Measurement range 0-100 %.
Pulse width modulation (PWM) signal from the accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor to the engine control module (ECM).
The value indicates the accelerator pedal (AP) position.
Approximately 8 %= the accelerator pedal (AP) completely released.
Approximately 88 %= the accelerator pedal (AP) completely depressed.
The PWM signal is used if there is a fault with the analog signal.

Hint: The value must follow the parameter "Accelerator pedal (AP), analog".

Accelerator pedal (AP) input signal, analog (V)
Measurement range 0-5 V.
The value is close to 0.4 V when the accelerator pedal (AP) is unaffected.
The voltage falls as the pedal is pressed. Brake pedal position (%) Measurement range 0-100 %. The value indicates the brake pedal position. The value is between 15 -25 % when the brake pedal is unaffected. The value increases as the pedal is depressed.

Brake pedal position sensor (V)
Note! Model year 2001 only.
Measurement range 0-5 V.
Operating range 2-4.5 V. The voltage drops as the pedal is pressed.

Clutch pedal position (%)
Measurement range 0-100 %.
The engine control module (ECM) calculates the value from the clutch pedal sensor signal. The value indicates the clutch pedal position. The value increases as the pedal is depressed.

Clutch pedal position sensor (V)
Measurement range 0-5 V.
Operating range approximately 3 - 4.5 V. The voltage drops as the pedal is pressed.

Throttle angle, desired value (%)
Measurement range 0-100 %.
The value indicates the signal sent from the engine control module (ECM) to the electronic throttle module (ETM).
0 % = throttle shut.
100 % = throttle fully open. This corresponds to an opening angle of approximately 84 degrees.

Throttle angle, actual value (%)
Measurement range 0-100 %.
The control module derives the value from the signal from the electronic throttle module (ETM). The value indicates the throttle opening.
0 % = throttle shut.
100 % = throttle fully open. This corresponds to an opening angle of approximately 84 degrees. Must follow the parameter "Throttle angle, desired value".

Air conditioning (A/C) linear pressure sensor (V)
Measurement range 0-5 V.
The value indicates the air conditioning (A/C) pressure sensor signal. The sensor must detect any change in pressure in the high pressure section of the air conditioning (A/C) system. Air conditioning (A/C) pressure (Pa) Measurement range 0to +3100 kpa.
The engine control module (ECM) calculates the value from the signal from the air conditioning (A/C) pressure sensor.
The value indicates the pressure at the high- pressure side of the air conditioning (A/C) system. The engine control module (ECM) calculates pressure based on the signal from the air conditioning (A/C) pressure sensor. The pressure is given as a value relative to the atmospheric pressure.

Purge valve, flow (liters per minute)
Measurement range 0-100 liters per minute. The value indicates the estimated flow of the system through the purge valve. Used as an input parameter during compensation for other parts of the system.
Normal value at idle is 0 liters per minute when there is no purging and 5 - 40 liters per minute during purging.

EVAP valve, operating time on (s)
Measurement range 0-100,000 micro sec.
The value indicates the time that the PWM signal to the EVAP signal is high, i.e. the time that the valve is open and purging. 1 000 p5 corresponds to I % opening.
The normal value at idle is 0 Ps when there is no purging and 0 - 35 000 Ps during purging.

Fuel tank pressure (Pa)
Certain markets only.
Measurement range -41 to +21 hpa.
The engine control module (ECM) derives the pressure in the fuel tank from the fuel tank pressure sensor signal.
The pressure is given as a value relative to the atmospheric pressure.

Intake pressure sensor, signal (V)
Measurement range 0-5 V.
The normal value (atmospheric pressure at sea level) is approximately 3.6 V with the ignition on (open throttle) and approximately 1.9 V at idle. The voltage increases with pressure in the intake manifold.

Pressure, intake manifold (Pa)
Measurement range -400 to +2267 hPa.
The pressure is given as a value relative to the atmospheric pressure.

Intake air temperature (IAT) (°C)
Measurement range 40 to +120°C.
The engine control module (ECM) calculates the signal from the intake air temperature sensor (integrated in the mass air flow (MAF) sensor).

Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor (V)
Measurement range 0-5 V.
Operating range 0.21-4.87 V. The voltage drops as the temperature rises.
The engine control module (ECM) retrieves the value from the intake air temperature sensor (integrated in the mass air flow (MAF) sensor).

Mass air flow (Ga, g/s)
Measurement range 0-200 g/s.
The value indicates the mass air flow that passes through the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. The engine control module (ECM) calculates the value based on the mass air flow (MAF) sensor signal.
Normal value with the engine at operating temperature and idling and under no load, neutral and air conditioning (A/C) switched off:
approximately 4 gls.

Note! Other values apply if the generator (GEN) is under load, if for example, high beam is on, the heated rear windshield is on etc.

Mass air flow (Gn, g/rev)
Measurement range 0 - 2 g/rev.
The normal value with an unloaded engine idling at operating temperature is approximately 0.24 g/rev.
The value indicates the mass air flow that passes through the mass air flow (MAF) sensor.

Air mass (V)

Measurement range 0-5 V.
Operating range approximately 0.5 - 4.5 V. The voltage increases with load.

Camshaft reset valve, desired value (CA)
Measurement range 0 - 160 CA.
The value indicates the expected control of the shift angle for the intake camshaft.
CA = Crank Angle.

Camshaft reset valve, actual value (CA)
Measurement range 0 - 160 CA.
The value indicates the controlled shift angle for the intake camshaft.
Must follow the parameter "Camshaft reset valve, desired value".
CA = Crank Angle.

Misfire counter 1-5
Counts the number of misfires in each cylinder. Normal value is 0.

Knock sensor (CA)
Knock retardation requested due to knock in the cylinders.
Measurement range 0-72 CA.
Normal value 0 CA.
This value indicates the mean value of the timing retardation for all cylinders.
CA = Crank Angle.

Ignition advance (°)
Measurement range -20 to +62 ° btdc.
Normal value at idle, engine at operating temperature, A/C off, is approximately +12 ° btdc.

Injection period (s)
Measurement range 0-262,140 micro sec.
The engine control module (ECM) controlled signal for injection period.
Normal value when the engine is idling at operating temperature: 2000 - 4000 micro sec.

Front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S), power consumption heater pad (A)
Probe heating in the front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).
Measurement range -63 to +3163 mA.
Actual electrical consumption required to maintain the correct probe temperature.

Front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
Measurement range 0-2.
Normal value is lambda=1.
At rich mixture is lambda<1.
At lean mixture is lambda>1.

Front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S), preheating resistance value (Ohm)
The internal resistance of the front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).
Measurement range 0.5-3.0 ohm.
The normal value is approximately 2 ohm when the probe is at operating temperature.

Signal, rear heated oxygen sensor (V)
Measurement range 0-5 V.
The signal from the rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) to the engine control module (ECM).
Normal value when the engine is running at even load is approximately 0.6 V.

Long term fuel trim
The parameter displays the adaptation factor of the lambda probe.
Measurement range 0-2 lambda-adap.
Compensates the injection period at the relevant load so that the lambda value can be correctly reached.
Normal value 1.
There are six adaptation windows. Which window is active depends on the load.
Works together with "Lambda compensation". When there is adjustment, this is visible in "Adaptation area 1-6".

Lambda compensation
The parameter displays the compensation factor of the lambda probe.
Measurement range 0-2.
Lambda value compensation increases or reduces the injection period depending on the deviation.
Normal value 1.
Works together with "Long term fuel trim".

Actual adaptation range
This parameter displays which of the six adaptation ranges the engine is in.



Note! Note that the air conditioning (A/C) compressor increases the load by approximately 0.05 g per rpm. The use of the A/C compressor often results in a change of adaptation area.
Hint: The adaptations are weighted between the values of each adaptation point in an adaptation area.

Adaptation area 1-6
This parameter displays the actual adaptation value for each adaptation area.
Measurement range 0-2.
Normal operating range 0.8-1.2.

PARAMETER, STATUS

Air conditioning (A/C) compressor, active
The deployment signal from the engine control module (ECM) to the air conditioning (A/C) compressor relay.
OFF = The engine control module (ECM) does not activate the air conditioning (A/C) compressor relay.
ON = The engine control module (ECM) activates the air conditioning (A/C) compressor relay.

Engine cooling fan (FC)
ON = The engine control module (ECM) activates the engine cooling fan (FC).
OFF = The engine control module (ECM) does not activate the engine cooling fan (FC).

Stop lamp switch
The engine control module (ECM) calculates the value from the clutch pedal sensor signal.
ON = stop lamp switch on.
OFF = stop lamp switch unaffected.

Fuel pump (FP) relay
OFF = The engine control module (ECM) does not activate the fuel pump (FP) relay.
ON = The engine control module (ECM) activates the fuel pump (FP) relay via the central electronic module (CEM), 12 V.

EVAP canister shut-off valve
Certain markets only.
Displays whether the EVAP canister shut-off valve is open or closed.
The valve is normally open but closes when the leak diagnostic is run.

Camshaft sensor
Displays the pulses from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor (intake).
Switches between high and low as the camshaft rotates.

Adaptation status
Activated = The adaptation has been activated.
Not activated = Adaptation is inactive.
When all conditions are met for fuel system adaptation, the adaptation is considered to be active.

Ignition key in position II
OFF = ignition off.
ON = ignition on.

Ignition key in position III
OFF = starting mode off.
ON= start mode on.

Cruise control ON/OFF button
OFF = ON/OFF button unaffected.
ON = ON/OFF button affected.

Cruise control resume button
The cruise control must be on when reading this parameter.
OFF = resume button unaffected.
ON = resume button activated.

Cruise control SET- button
The cruise control must be on when reading this parameter.
OFF = SET- button unaffected.
ON = SET- button affected.

Cruise control SET+ button
The cruise control must be on when reading this parameter.
OFF = SET+ button unaffected.
ON = SET+ button affected.
