DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INFORMATION

Condition
The control modules communicate with each other in a network via a standardized serial communication procedure - CAN (Controller Area Network) - to exchange information. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-E003 is stored if the engine control module (ECM) registers that the software does not correspond with the other vehicle configurations that results in the engine control module (ECM) being unable communicate with the other control modules.

- faulty software in the engine control module (ECM)
- defective control module

Fault symptom[s]
- electronic throttle system warning lamp lit
- the cruise control does not function at all
- the engine judders under acceleration
- the engine judders heavily after engine braking
- uneven idling.
