Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

ECM-951F ACCELERATOR PEDAL (AP) POSITION SENSOR, INTERNAL FAULT
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INFORMATION

Condition

Note! If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-951F is stored together with ECM-950F, only fault-trace for ECM-950F.

The accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor transmits a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal to both the engine control module (ECM) and the electronic throttle module (ETM). The angle of the accelerator pedal (AP) is calculated from these signals.
The accelerator pedal (AP) angle in the electronic throttle module (ETM) is compared by the electronic throttle module (ETM) with the accelerator pedal (AP) angle from the engine control module (ECM) via the control area network (CAN). The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the electronic throttle module (ETM) detects a difference between the accelerator pedal angles.
The diagnostic is active when the engine is running.

Substitute value
- The accelerator pedal (AP) is ignored when braking
- The cruise control cannot be activated.

Possible source
- Loose connections or contact resistance in the terminals on the digital pulse width modulated signal cable to the electronic throttle module (ETM)
- Fault in the PWM signal between the engine control module (ECM) and the electronic throttle module (ETM)
- Interference on the CAN signal wiring
- Defective electronic throttle unit (ETM).

Fault symptom[s]
- Cruise control does not function at all.
