Faulty Signal




ECM-9400 BRAKE PEDAL SENSOR
FAULTY SIGNAL

Reading off DTC status ECM-9400:



Note! When reading off the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status, other stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their status will be listed.

- Read off the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status. Check the status of the relevant diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

Was the status of the relevant diagnostic trouble code (DTC) permanent?
Yes - Skip to "Checking Component and Wiring"
No - Continue below.


Checking wiring and connectors



Visually check brake pedal sensor terminals according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults

Remedy as necessary.

Fault-tracing information
If the fault is intermittent, do not verify fault-tracing if the fault does not recur.

Checking Component and Wiring



Check the brake pedal sensor resistance between #1 and #2, for resistance values, Brake Pedal Sensor

Check the terminals visually according to Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault

Remedy as necessary.

Other information:
- For information about signals, Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters
- With the ignition on and the brake pedal sensor connector disconnected, the voltage between clutch pedal position sensor #2 and ground should be approximately 5 V.
- With the brake pedal sensor connector disconnected, brake pedal sensor #4 (engine control module side) should be connected to ground.


Verification



Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Engine running
Read off diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status. If the fault has been remedied the status should be intermittent.

Is the status intermittent?
Yes - Tesing Complete.
No - Continue below.


Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed. Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
