Faulty Signal
ECM-911A THROTTLE UNIT COMMUNICATION
FAULTY SIGNAL
Status check
Check the status to see if the fault is intermittent or permanent.
- Start the engine
- Press the accelerator pedal (AP) down at the same time as the brake pedal is depressed.
The fault is intermittent if the engine speed (RPM) increases.
The fault is permanent if the engine speed (RPM) does not increase
Note! In the event of an intermittent fault this is covered in the final check.
Is the fault permanent?
Yes - Skip to "Other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)"
No - Continue below.
Fault-tracing information
The throttle unit registered a communication fault previously but has detected that the fault is no longer present.
Fault-tracing information
If the fault is intermittent, do not verify fault-tracing if the fault does not recur.
--Testing Complete--
Other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
Note! The control module in the combined instrument panel (driver information module) has overall control of the communication network. The control module stores a number of diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) which indicate the fault. In case of communication problems the fault may exist in another part of the communications network.
- Ignition on.
Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the combined instrument panel (driver information module).
If there are diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for communication problems with the engine control module (ECM)/electronic throttle module stored in the driver information module (DIM), fault trace accordingly.
Are any diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) stored in the combined instrument panel?
Yes - Testing Complete.
No - Continue below.
