Signal Too Low
ECM-6110 ENGINE COOLING FAN (FC) RELAY, LOW SPEED
SIGNAL TOO LOW
Checking for intermittent fault
- Ignition on.
- Activate engine cooling fan (FC), low-speed.
Check that engine cooling fan (FC) starts and runs at low-speed.
Does the engine cooling fan (FC) start and run at low-speed?
Yes - Continue below.
No - Skip to "Checking Connector"
Checking connector (resistance)
- Ignition off.
Check engine cooling fan (FC) relay connector for contact resistance and oxidation according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault
Checking Connector
- Reinstall components, reconnect connectors etc.
- Ignition on.
- Activate engine cooling fan (FC), low-speed.
Check whether engine cooling fan (FC) starts and runs at low-speed.
If the engine cooling fan (FC) now starts it means that the cause of the fault was loose connections in the connector.

Checking wiring and components
Check cable between control module # A6 and engine cooling fan (FC) relay # B1 for a short-circuit to ground according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault, and for an open-circuit according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault
Check cable between engine cooling fan (FC) relay # B30 and main fuse 1 for an open-circuit according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault
If no fault is found in the wiring, try a new relay for the engine cooling fan (FC).

Verification
Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components
- Ignition on.
- Activate engine cooling fan (FC), low-speed.
Check whether engine cooling fan (FC) starts and runs at low-speed.

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
