Faulty Signal
ECM-23X0 INJECTOR X
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INFORMATION
Checking for intermittent faults
- Activate the relevant injector.
A click should be heard from the injector when it is activated.
Is the injector working?
Yes - Continue below.
No - Skip to "Checking the connector"
Fault-tracing information
Control module previously registered a fault. The fault is now no longer present.
Fault-tracing information
If the fault is intermittent, do not verify fault-tracing if the fault does not recur.
--Testing Complete--
Checking the connector
- Ignition off.
Check the injector connector. Check for contact resistance and oxidation according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault
Remedy as necessary.
Other information
- To access/replace the injector, Injectors/Pulsation Dampers, Replacing
Checking the Component
- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the components, reconnect the connectors etc.
- Ignition on.
- Activate the injector which caused the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to be stored.
- A click should be heard from the injector when it is activated.
If the injector is now OK, the fault was caused by poor contact in the connector.
Other information
- To access/replace the injector, Injectors/Pulsation Dampers, Replacing
Is the injector working?
Yes - Testing Complete.
No - Continue below.
Checking injectors
Check the cable between injector terminal 2 and control module:
- terminal 16 for ECM-2300
- terminal 34 for ECM-2310
- terminal 15 for ECM-2320
- terminal 33 for ECM-2330
- terminal 14 for ECM-2340
for an open-circuit according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault, a short-circuit to supply voltage according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and a short-circuit to ground according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault
Check resistance between terminals 1 and 2 on the injector. It should be 10 - 20 (ohm) at 20°C.
Check the cable between injector connector terminal 1 and fuse 3 in the integrated relay/fusebox in the engine compartment for an open-circuit according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault
Hint: With the ignition on the voltage between injector terminal 1 and the ground terminal should be battery voltage.
Remedy as necessary.
Verification
Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components
- Ignition on.
- Activate the relevant injector.
A click should be heard from the injector when it is activated.
Is the injector working?
Yes - Testing Complete
No - Continue Below.
Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
