Programming Operation
1. Connect the Lap Top
- Open rear cover from Lap Top PC
- Connect Lap Top PC (# 1) to the Programmer using the V24-cable.
- 9 pin female connects to the Lap Top PC (# 11).
- 25 pin male connects to the Programmer (# 13).
- Connect the power supply to the programmer. Use AC/DC converter 120V-12V (# 3)
- Connect the power supply to the laptop PC. Use AC/DC converter 120V-18.5V (# 5)
2. Remove ECM
Points to observe when removing engine control module (ECM).
- Wait 150 seconds after engine coolant fan has stopped.
- Remove (ECM) fuse no. 1.
S70 / V70
Open engine control module (ECM) box cover and remove Motronic 4.4 engine control module (ECM) (module nearest engine).

Always check the control module and connector on the control module box for bent, damaged pins or sockets.
3. Start Programming
- Slide the power switch on the Laptop-PC.
- The start menu will be loaded.
- Connect the ECM to the programmer and slide lever to lock position.
- Switch on power to the programmer.

- Follow the instruction on the Laptop-PC screen.
Programming takes approximately 5 minutes. During this time, prepare the label (Part Number 9438597).
If additional labels are needed, they may be ordered from Volvo using normal parts ordering routines.
4. Place the new on top of the old label.
Note!
Do not cover the Bosch Part Number.
On the new label write the part number listed on the PC-screen, your dealer code, and the programming date.
5. Complete programming
When the ECM is successfully programmed, the LapTop PC screen will display the message "ECM Successfully Programmed".

7. Disconnect the ECM from the Programmer
8. Install Engine Control Module (ECM) in vehicle
Inspect connector pins sockets for damage
- Reinstall engine control module (ECM).
- Reinstall fuse no. 1.
- Switch on ignition.
- Read off any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
- Erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and reset adaptive functions.
It is important that both diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are erased and adaptive functions are reset when the engine control module (ECM) is replaced or when reading diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
Note!
If using the engine control module (ECM) from another car, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) (if any) must be erased and adaptive functions reset as described above before engine control module (ECM) is reinstalled in car.
- Reinstall ECM box cover.
9. To program another ECM
- Connect the ECM to the programmer.
- Switch on power to the programmer.
- Type "Go".
- Press
- Secure that
- Press
- Repeat steps 3 through 7
10. End programming
- Switch off power to the Laptop-PC.
