Bushing Rear Lateral Link, Replacing
Removal
Note! As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.
Preparations
- Remove the wheel.
Installing the tensioner
- Install the long screw for the tensioner on the mounting
- Install mounting 999 5660 on the rear axle member.
Note! Ensure that the rear axle mating surfaces are clean where the tool will be used.
- Screw the tensioner into place 999 5659 in the long screw.
- Tension the rear suspension to the normal position
- The rear suspension is in the normal position when the distance from the fender edge (1) to the center of the wheel (2) is 381 mm.
- Detach the rear jack mounting
- Remove the 3 screws from the lateral link. This is to detach the control arm mounting
- Press the jacking point backward so that it passes the control arm.
CAUTION
Take care not to damage the brake pipes.
Removing The Lateral Link And Bushing
Release the tension on the tensioner so that the control arm rests on the shock absorber.
Remove:
- the screw for the rear bushing mounting (1)
- the screw for the center bushing mounting (2)
- The lateral link.
Remove the bushing halves (one on each side of the control arm)
Installation
Installing The Lateral Link And Bushing
Clean and install new bushings.
Install:
- The lateral link
- The screw for the rear bushing mounting
- The screw for the center bushing mounting.
Note! Do not tighten the screws for the bushing mountings. This is carried out later when the rear suspension is in the normal position.
- Tension the rear suspension to the normal position
- The rear suspension is in the normal position when the distance from the fender edge (1) to the center of the wheel (2) is 381 mm.
Note! Check that the brake pipes are not trapped at the front mounting for the lateral link when working.
Installing the jacking point
Install:
- The 3 screws for the front support arm mounting. Use new screws.
- jacking point
- the screw for the jacking point. Use a new screw.
Tightening the mountings
Tighten:
- the 3 screws for the front support arm mounting. Tighten to 65 Nm. Angle-tighten 60°
- The center bushing mounting for the laterat link. Tighten to 80 Nm
- The rear bushing mounting for the lateral link. Tighten to 105 Nm Angle-tighten 90°.
Finishing
- Install the wheels.
