Inspection

If SIPS Bag Was Not Released In A Side Collision
In the event of minor collisions, when front seat is otherwise intact, a visual inspection of the SIPS bag is necessary.

Fig. 1 SIPS Bag Transport Safety Device Installation:

Lock SIPS bag
- Lift up the seat pocket. Lift the front edge and push pocket backward.
- Remove transport safety device from its holder inside the seat pocket.
- Attach transport safety device to sensor unit.

Inspect SIPS-bag system

Inspect firing circuit
- Make a visual inspection of the exposed portion of the firing circuit on the seat.

If there is visible damage to the firing tube's protective sleeve:
- Remove sleeve and make sure that firing tubes are not damaged.

Inspect sensor unit
- Remove sensor unit.
- Remove transport safety device from sensor unit.

WARNING: Use caution when SIPS bag is unlocked! Do not exert any external pressure on sensor unit. Aluminum cover on sensor unit must not be pressed in or dented.

It should be easy to remove the sensor unit from and install it into the SIPS tube. If sensor unit is wedged in or difficult to remove, it may be dented.
- Measure sensor unit height according to drawing.
Height must not be less than 27.0 mm (1.06 inches).

- Install transport safety device on sensor unit.

If SIPS bag is OK:
Install in opposite order.

If any SIPS bag components are damaged:
Replace with a complete new SIPS bag.
