Control Module HVAC: Adjustments
KKA1 General on programming
The ECC control module can be programmed with certain information. The purpose of the programming is to adjust the control module to the car version or when the driver requests that certain adjustments are made to the settings. The following information can be programmed:driver position, engine type, passenger compartment ventilation filter, passenger compartment temperature and blower fan speed.
Then continue with: KKA2
KKA2 Programming driver position (LHD or RHD)
NOTE! In order for a new ECC control module to operate the control module must be programmed for driver position (LHD or RHD). A control module that has not been programmed will not operate at all and the green indicator LEDs in the REC and AC buttons will flash.
After programming in the driver position the green LED in the AC button will flash and continue to do so until the automatic damper motor adjustment phase is completed.
- Ignition on.
- Use the Programming function to read out and program the ECC control module. Programmable data is: left-hand drive or right-hand drive car. If the control module was not previously programmed no data can be read off.
Read off the driver position. Make a note of the reading. If the programming is not correct, program in the correct version.
Any further programming to do?
Yes: Go to KKA3
No: Operation done
KKA3 Programming the engine type
NOTE! This programming sequence allows the ECC control module to adapt the control module and the climate control system to the heating capacity of the engine installed in the car. Diesel engines take longer to reach their normal operating temperature.
- Ignition on.
- Use the Programming function to read off and program the ECC control module. Programmable data is: gasoline or diesel engine. If the control module was not previously programmed no data can be read off.
Read off the engine type. Make a note of the reading. If the programming is not correct, program in the correct version.
Any further programming to do?
Yes: Go to KKA4
No: Operation done
KKA4 Programming passenger compartment ventilation filter
NOTE! If the car has a passenger compartment ventilation filter the control module must be programmed with this information. This causes the control module to increase blower fan speeds and the air flow to compensate for the resistance from the filter unit. If the control module is not programmed for a ventilation filter when there is a filter installed, the air flow will be reduced as will the efficiency of the demisting of the interior of the windows, however the noise levels from the blower fan will be slightly lower. If on the other hand, the control module is programmed for a passenger compartment ventilation filter and the filter is not installed, this will cause a higher air flow which can make demisting of the interior glass easier, but also gives a slightly higher noise level.
- Remove the cover panel over the blower fan air intake to determine if the car has a passenger compartment ventilation filter installed.
- Ignition on.
- Use the Programming function to read off and program the ECC control module. Programmable data is: with or without passenger compartment ventilation filter. If the control module was not previously programmed no data can be read off.
Read off if a passenger compartment ventilation filter is programmed. Make a note of the reading. If the programming is not correct, program in the correct version.
Any further programming to do?
Yes: Go to KKA5
No: Operation done
KKA5 Programming the passenger compartment temperature
NOTE! The relation between the temperature in the passenger compartment and the temperature setting on the selector knob can be reprogrammed. The temperature in the car can be increased or reduced by a maximum of 2 °C (3.6 °F) from the normal setting. This allows some account to be taken of the driver's wishes regarding the temperature settings in the car.
- Ignition on.
- Use the Programming function to read off and program the ECC control module. Programmable temperature is: between ± 2 °C ( ± 3.6°) in 0.5 °C (0.9 °F) steps.
Read off the passenger compartment temperature programming. Make a note of the reading. Program as necessary.
Any further programming to do?
Yes: Go to KKA6
No: Operation done
KKA6 Programming the blower fan speed
NOTE! The blower fan's speed control (air flow) when the blower fan speed selector switch is in AUTO position can be reprogrammed. The air flow can be increased or reduced by a maximum of 8 liters/second (17.8 cubic.ft/min) from the normal setting. If the control module is programmed for a lower air flow this will result in slightly lower noise levels in the car, but also result in reduced air circulation which can make demisting the interior glass more difficult. If, however, the control module is programmed for a higher air flow this will result in slightly higher noise levels in the car, but also result in increased air circulation which can make demisting the interior glass more easier.
- Ignition on.
- Use the Programming function to read oft and program the ECC control module. Programmable blower fan speed is: between ± 8 l/s ( ± 17.8 cubic.ft/min) in 4 l/s (8.9 cubic.ft/min) steps.
Read off blower fan speed programming. Make a note of the reading. Program as necessary.
Then operation is done.
