ECM-4010 EVAP CANISTER SHUT-OFF VALVE
SIGNAL MISSING - PERMANENT FAULT

Checking connector



- Ignition off
- Check EVAP canister shut-off valve connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- Reinstall components, reconnect connectors etc.
- Ignition on.
- Activate EVAP canister shut-off valve.

A "click" should be heard when the EVAP canister shut-off valve is activated.
If the EVAP canister shut-off valve is now OK this indicates that the fault was caused by poor contact in the connector.

Yes - Testing Complete.
No - Continue below.


Checking wiring and components



Check EVAP canister shut-off valve resistance.

Check signal cable between control module # B40 (# B50) and EVAP canister shut-off valve terminal 2 and power supply between system relay terminal 3 and EVAP canister shut-off valve terminal 1 for an open-circuit according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault

Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.

- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
- Ignition on.
- Activate EVAP canister shut-off valve.

A "click" should be heard when the EVAP canister shut-off valve is activated.
