Quarter glass drainage

Background
Because of too early water test during production, water could have entered passenger compartment and settled on floor under the rear seat.

Preparations





Raise the cover plate with the button on the dashboard as per illustration.

Disconnect link





Disconnect link for flap.

Remove rear seat cushion and seat back

If not already performed during Campaign 95C Checking/Replacing insulation mats, Service Bulletin 84-O18, refer to 84-O18 for removal instructions.

Remove rear side panels





Fold down the seat belt buckle (1).

Remove the two screws marked (3).

Remove clips (4).

Carefully loosen side panel from fasteners (2), in the B-post.

Remove





Remove clip 6.

Carefully pull side panel forward and up slightly (arrow) to release the upper edge of the side panel from the body.

Note!
Do not lift panel too high or the panel may be damaged where the clip (6) was installed.

Carefully continue lifting the side panel forward and up, to remove it from vehicle.

Folding butyl tape





A = Take two pieces of butyl tape 120 mm (4 3/4") long and 4 mm (5/32") thick.

B = Fold the butyl tape as per illustration. The final piece must be 35 mm (1 3/8") long.

C = The final piece must be 35 mm (1 2/8") long.

Apply seal





Remove the sealing.

Pull up rubber seal (2) 25 mm (1.0") ( B) as per the illustration

Note!
Seal MUST be pulled up carefully or it may warp.

Clean area with cleaner H

Place the Butyl (1) into V-shaped channel bracket as per illustration (A=125 mm)( 5")

The butyl (3) minimum height of 3O mm (1 3/16") must seal oft the V-channel so that no water can run under it or between the flange for the seal strip.

Re-install

Note!
When installing the rear side panels, ensure that the fastener clips on the panel front edge line up with the corresponding holes in the B-post before finally mounting the panel to the B-post.

Carefully reinstall all removed parts in reverse order ensuring proper fit of all parts.

Repeat

Repeat the job on the other side of the vehicle; both left and right sides of vehicle must be performed.
