Checking the function
1. The seat-belt reminder does not flash/tick.
2. The seat-belt reminder flashes/ticks the whole time.
3.
Note! Option 3 is only for cars with flashing seat-belt reminder.

Seat-belt reminder constantly on.

- Ignition off.
- Check the seat-belt reminder bulb.
- Check relay 212 (2/5).
- Ignition on.
Check that there is voltage on relay #4 and #5; test for an open circuit as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Do the necessary corrective action.






Is there a fault?

Yes - Checking the components

- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the control unit connector.
- Ignition on.
Check the wire between control unit connector #34 and relay 212 (2/5) #6 for an open circuit, as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the ground wire for relay 212 (2/5) #2 for an open circuit, as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Do the necessary corrective action.

- Disconnect the control unit connector.
If the seat-belt reminder comes on/ticks weakly the whole time, a short circuit to voltage supply has probably damaged the control unit. The short circuit must be remedied before any component is replaced.
Check whether there is a short circuit to voltage supply by:
Ignition on.
Measure the current between #34 and ground. The current should not be greater than 60 mA.
Check #34 for a short circuit to ground, as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check #34 for a short circuit to voltage supply, as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check also relay 212 (2/5) #6 for a short circuit to ground, as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
If no fault is found, test by using a new seat-belt reminder.
Do the necessary corrective action.











Select Continue when fault has been rectified.

Check relay 212 (2/5).
When the seat-belt reminder is activated, a ticking sound can be heard from the relay. If no sound is heard, this means that the relay has become stuck again, in which case it should be replaced.
