Bleeding the Heater Coolant System
Bleeding the heater coolant system
The following are required for the work:
- the hose clip
- steel ball, P/N 400605-2.
- Release any pressure in the system
- Open the cap of the coolant reservoir carefully so that any pressure seeps out
- Tighten the cap again.
- Disconnect the hose from the engine at the steel pipe
- Position the steel ball (P/N 400605-2) in the hose
- Reinstall the hose on the steel pipe
- Tighten the hose clamp.
- Top up the cooling system with coolant
- Reinstall the cap on the coolant reservoir. Tighten the cap.
- Start the engine. Drive the car until operating temperature is reached. Allow the engine to rev to approximately 4000-5000 rpm.
- Check that hot air comes out of the floor vent and defroster.
- Stop the engine. Allow the engine to cool so that the heater hose with the steel ball can be handled
- Start the parking heater.
- Check that hot air comes out of the floor vent and defroster.
- Feel that the steel ball-bearing is in the hose. If it is not tap the steel pipe gently, so that the ball-bearing falls down into the hose.
- Clamp the hose using a hose clip so that the ball lies between the hose clip and the steel pipe, as close to the steel pipe as possible.
- Disconnect the hose and remove the ball bearing
- Reinstall the hose on the pipe. Tighten the hose clamp
- Remove the hose clip.
- Start the engine. Run the engine for approximately 10 seconds. Shut off the engine again
- Start the parking heater. Check that warm air comes out of the floor vents and defroster.
- Top up the coolant if necessary.
