Discolored Engine Oil
Discolored engine oil
There have been reports of discolored engine oil (white/gray) on new cars before delivery to the customer (at PDS). Analysis of this condition indicates that very small traces of water, not coolant is present in the engine oil. This condition is a combination of combustion gases being mixed with the oil and the way the cars are driven during transit. One liter of gasoline will produce one liter of water during the combustion.
Once the oil reaches its normal operating temperature, the water content will evaporate and the oil will return to its normal color. The engine oil and filter should not be changed to alleviate this condition.
