No signal. Permanent fault

Checking the wiring








- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the impact sensor connector.
- Disconnect the control unit connector.









Hint: In order for the control unit to detect if communication with the side-impact sensors has stopped, the sensor sends a live signal to the control unit. If there is no signal, a diagnostic trouble code is set.

Check the connectors for contact resistance and oxidation, as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the wire between side-impact sensor connector #3 and control unit connector #21 for an open circuit as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , for short circuit to ground as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , and for short circuit to ground.
Repeat the above measurement but now on the wire between side-impact sensor connector #2 and control unit connector #33, and on the wire between side-impact sensor connector #1 and control unit connector #46.
Do the necessary corrective action.

Yes - Verification

No - Replacing the component

Test with a new side-impact sensor, as described in Side impact sensors Service and Repair.
Do the necessary corrective action.

Select Continue when fault has been rectified.

Hint: After the repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified.








- Ignition off.
- Connect connector etc.
- Ignition on.
Read off the impact sensor signal. The sensor must emit a live signal if there is no fault.





Was a live signal received from the impact sensor?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - Trouble-shooting information
No Fault Found

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
