Fuel Gauge Sender: Description and Operation

Fuel Level/Gauge:

The system consists of the [1][2]fuel level sensor and fuel gauge. The fuel gauge reads from 'Full' (70 liters/18.5 gal) down to 7 liters (1.8 gal), range 63 liters (16.65 gal). The sensor has a floater which affects the resistance depending on how much fuel is left. The resistance with the floater at its upper limit is 10 ohm, rising to 325 ohm with the floater at its lower limit.

On connecting the fuel gauge (switch ignition on), it should show the fuel level accurately within 3 seconds. A yellow warning light comes on when there are about 8 liters (2.1 gal) left in the tank.
