Air Intake System

AIR INTAKE SYSTEM
Air passes via inlet hose (1) to the ACL (2), passes the mass air flow (MAP) sensor in the fresh air intake hose (3) and goes on to the TO (4) intake side. The hot, compressed air passes through the upper charge air pipe (5) to the CAC (6) where the air temperature is reduced to improve volumetric efficiency. The air flows through lower charge air pipe (7) via the TB to the intake manifold (8).

The air intake upstream of the filter is larger than that on other five cylinder engines.

The ACL does not have a pre-heat unit and its cover is adapted to fit the modified fresh air intake hose.

The upper extension arm is reinforced on the TURBO, while all five cylinder engines will have reinforced upper and lower torque rods from 1994. The subframe mounting has also been reinforced.

The firewall has been fitted with an extra heavy duty heat shield.
