Check A/C Relay Output
CONTROL CODE 1-1-1:NOTE: Once control of A/C relay is activated under test mode 4, the compressor will be switched on and off five times. Position on/off.
Settings Before Activation:
- Start engine.
- Set fan setting on control unit to a manual position (i.e. not AUTO or 0).
- Air distributor switch to AUTO.
-Activate Test Mode 4.
- Check control of A/C relay output.
Control module should respond by:
- Switching A/C relay on and off five times (10 seconds on, 10 seconds off).
- Switching compressor on and off.
- Switching A/C LED on control module on and off.
- If A/C relay does not react to control code, go to "Check A/C Relay" in next step.
Check A/C Relay:
- Ignition on.
- Check there is 0 V to A/C relay pin 4 and control unit A:25.
- If value is OK, go to next step "Check 12 V To A/C Relay Pin 1".
- If value not OK, check wire for open circuit as in "Checking Wires". Checking Wires
- Across A/C relay pin 4 and ignition system output 28.
- Across A/C relay pin 4 and connector A pin A:25 to control module.
Check 12 V To A/C Relay Pin 1:
- If value is OK, go to test in next step "Check Wire".
- If value is not OK, open circuit in wire, check wire between A/C relay pin 1 and connector A pin A:1 for breaks as in "Checking Wires". Checking Wires.
Check Wire:
- Check wire between A/C relay pin 2 and connector B pin B:11 for breaks as in "Checking Wires". Checking Wires
- If there is an open circuit:
- Rectify fault
- Test ECC system as in "Test Procedures". Test Procedures
- Go to "Activate Test Mode 4". Initializing Test Modes
- If wire is OK:
- Disconnect A/C relay. Service and Repair
- Replace A/C relay and install in reverse order.
- Test ECC system as in "Test Procedures". Test Procedures Is ECC system working? Go to the step above "Activate Test Mode 4.
If A/C System Does Not Work:
- Run basic checks as in "Test Procedures". Test Procedures
- Check all wires from compressor; low-pressure switch and high-pressure switch for open circuits as in "Checking Wires". Checking Wires
