Installing and aligning new air conditioning (A/C) receiver
A new receiver, P/N 6128740-5 with a new type of mounting bracket was introduced into production from model year 1994. Only the new type of mounting bracket (two part, P/N 9137408-2 and 9137409-0) is available as a replacement part.
This Service Bulletin describes how to install and align the new mounting bracket on model year 1993 cars with the older type of receiver. Refer to table below for proper receiver/bracket combinations.
Hold the receiver clamp to the member by the upper mounting hole as illustrated.
Mark up holes by the hook on the clamp. The hole should be 92-94 mm (3 5/8" - 3 11/16") below the top of the member.
Drill an 0 8 mm (5/16") hole.
Use an angle drill as space is limited. Treat edges with rustproofing agent, P/N 1161432-8.
Install hoses from compressor and radiator on receiver bottle.
Install bracket on receiver bottle. Secure loosely with screw.
Install bracket with receiver on the member Install lip into hole in member and secure on the top of the member with the screw.
Adjust receiver bottle in the bracket so that hoses are not stretched or rubbing against other components.
Tighten screw on bracket to secure receiver.
Reinstall Components.
