Replacing Receiver/Drier or Suction Pipe

- When replacing a receiver / drier always replace O-rings in pipes and quick-release connectors
- When replacing a suction pipe follow these instructions but only replace the suction pipe.
Preparations
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Drain the refrigerant from the system
Removal
Removing the fresh air hoses (N4) from the control module box:
- Lift the data link connector (DLC) from the control module box
- Remove the fresh air hoses from the control module box
- Remove the connection nozzle for the inlet hose at the fan shroud (2 clips).
- Disconnect the pipe couplings at the compressor
- Release the quick-release connectors on the receiver/drier (N8)
- Note! Use quick-release connector puller 999 5472.
- Remove the cover from the right-hand headlamp
- Remove the screw from the bracket for the receiver / drier
- Remove the air baffle (2 screws).
Removing the receiver / drier and bracket:
- Lift the receiver/drier upwards where the bracket is hooked at the side member.
Removing the receiver / drier from the bracket:
- When replacing the receiver / drier, the new unit must be filled with 90 cm3 of new oil. Refer to: "Heating and air Conditioning : Refrigerant Oil : Service and Repair" Service and Repair
- Transfer the suction pipe to the new receiver/drier. Tighten to 30 Nm.
- Note! Note the position of the suction pipe relative to the receiver / drier.
- Transfer the bracket
- Note! Model year 1992-1993: Use adjustment tool 999 5473 to establish the correct position.
Installation
Install:
- Receiver/drier
- Note! Always use new O-rings lubricated with compressor oil for the quick-release connectors.
- Compressor pipe connection.
Model year 1992-1993: Tighten the suction pipe. Tighten to 60 Nm.
Model year 1994-: Tighten the suction pipe. Tighten to 25±6 Nm
- Note! Use new O-rings here as well.
- Fill the system with refrigerant. Check for leaks.
Install:
- The air baffle
The fresh air intake hoses for the control module
- The fresh air intake hoses for the control module box and the nozzle
- The data link connector (DLC) on the control module box
- The fresh air hose and nozzle
- The battery negative lead.
