Air Conditioning Control
Electronic Climate Control (ECC) Only:The A/C compressor (2) electromagnetic clutch is powered by the A/C relay (13). Operation of the compressor requires that the A/C relay be activated by both the ECC control module and the engine management system (9) (EZ-129K (D1)/Fenix 5.2 (MFI) control module).
The ECC control module normally supplies the A/C relay while driving, except when:
- The heater fan is off and the speed of the car is low, less than approx. 50 km/h (30 mph).
- The heater fan is off and recirculation is on.
If the A/C is switched off using the "ac off" switch (26), the ECC control module will cease to supply the relay and the compressor will stop. However, this does not apply when the air distribution control is in the defroster setting, since the A/C is always on in this case.
The compressor is connected in series with the high-pressure and safety switch (3) and the low-pressure switch (6). The high-pressure and safety switch cuts power to the unit if the pressure in the A/C high-pressure circuit becomes excessive and will supply a signal to the engine management system if the cooling fan is to start.
The low-pressure switch (Pressostat) switches the compressor on and off to maintain pressure within suitable limits.
The engine management system switches the A/C compressor off at full acceleration, at high engine temperature and for 5-10 seconds after starting the engine.
