Recirculation

- Recirculation motor. The recirculation motor (18) operates the recirculation damper by means of a mechanical linkage in response to signals from the control unit (1).
- Recirculation switch. The off position of the recirculation switch (25) corresponds to automatic operation, i.e. the control module then determines whether or not recirculation is required. Pushing the recirculation switch on moves the damper straight to the upper limit position and all the air recirculates.
- Recirculation. The control module selects recirculation only for a combination of cooling and high outside temperature (7), provided also that either:
- There is a considerable difference between the desired (22) and actual (5) temperature on the driver side. The quantity of air recirculated will vary between 70 and 100%, depending on how great the difference in temperature is.
- A high fan speed is selected manually (24). In this case, the damper will be set to the mid-position, approx. 50% of the air will be recirculated.
- Air distribution switch. With the air distribution switch in the defroster position, recirculation always cuts out, as the humidity of the air in the passenger compartment will normally be higher than that of the outside air.
- Recirculation damper. In automatic operation, the recirculation damper movement is limited to 2%/sec. This means it takes about 30 seconds for full recirculation to take effect if the outside temperature is high.
