Damper Motor
Damper Motors (ECC)
Damper motors
The damper motors in the ECC climate control unit are identical, but the control range varies with the damper being controlled. The damper motors have a position sensor to enable the control unit to read the exact damper position, learn the damper limit positions and detect any fault in the damper motor. There are five damper motors
14 - Ventilation damper motor (14)
15 - Floor/defroster damper motor (15)
16 - Driver's side temperature damper motor (16)
17 - Passenger side temperature damper motor (17)
18 - Recirculation damper motor (18)
For reasons of space, the ventilation damper is operated by a damper motor via two gear segments, one fitted to the damper motor output shaft and the other on the ventilation damper shaft.
Replacing damper motor
When replacing damper motors, you will need to reset the end positions held in memory using diagnostic system as per Test mode 4. Refer to: "Heating and Air Conditioning : Testing and Inspection : Procedures : Non-Trouble Code Procedures" Component Tests and General Diagnostics
