Cruise control will not engage
When a cruise control system will not engage, the diagnosis should start with checking the vacuum supply and vacuum supply pipe.
If the pipe is found damaged in the area of the left front headlight, the following method can be used to repair the plastic pipe.
Service kit, P/N 1270406-0 contains:
^ Protective hose, 650 mm (25-1/2") P/N 1270459
^ Plastic pipe, 750 mm (29-1/2") P/N 946233
^ Connector hose, 40 mm (1-9/16") P/N 976734
Remove:
- intake air pipe
- battery
Loosen air cleaner box and push to one side.
Remove vacuum hose
Remove 2 battery shelf screws (A) and pull battery shelf out through the cowl side.
Remove the cruise control vacuum hose from the vacuum pump. Remove and save the angled connection (B).
Cut the black vacuum hose (C) located under the air cleaner box at the spring strut, discard the piece of hose.
Note:
Be careful and cut the vacuum hose, not the hood lock wire.
Install new hose kit
Transfer connector (B) to hose kit P/N 1270406-0. Push the connection at least 5 mm (3/16") into the protective hose (D).
Install hose kit between the vacuum pump and the cut hose.
Connect the hoses with connector hose (C) from kit.
Reinstall battery shelf and tighten screws (A).
Reinstall
- air cleaner box
- battery
- intake air pipe
Enter radio code if anti-theft coded radio installed.
