- The charging system works.
- Fault is permanent.

Possible source

- Signal cable break.
- Signal cable short circuited to power.

Fault-tracing begins with WB Check the signal to the control module.

WB. Check the signal to the control module

[WB1]

Connecting the test box

Connect the test box as per JJJA. Connect the test box. Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters

Then proceed to [WB2]

[WB2]

Check the signal cable short circuiting to power

- Ignition off.
- Uncover the instrument panel.
- Disconnect instrument panel connection B.
- Control module disconnected.
- Ignition on.

Connect a voltmeter between #16 and #8 on the test box.

The voltmeter should indicate approx. 0V.

If reading is OK: WB4
If reading Is incorrect: WB3

[WB3]

Check for short circuiting

Check the cable between instrument panel contact connection B6 and control module #16 for short circuiting to current as per [IIIB4]. Check Communication to Control Module [III]

Then continue with: WB6

[WB4]

Check the signal cable resistance

- Ignition off.
- Control module disconnected.

Connect an ohmmeter between instrument panel contact connection B6 and #16 on the test box.

The ohmmeter should indicate approx. 0 ohms

If reading Is OK: Fault not found
If reading is incorrect: WB5

[WB5]

Check for cable breaks

Check the cable between combination instrument contact connection B6 and control module #16 for breaks as per [IIIB2]. Check Communication to Control Module [III]
