Sunroof / Moonroof Lift Mechanism: Service and Repair

Replacing mechanism


Removal (entire mechanism):

- Remove sun roof. Service and Repair
- Remove sun visor. Service and Repair
- Remove wind deflector. Service and Repair
- Remove cables. Service and Repair



- Remove gutter (2 screws on each side).



- Press mechanism out and pull forwards.

NOTE! Never pull the mechanism straight up.




- The mechanism is clamped in a guide block at the rear end.


Install (complete mechanism):

- Install in reverse order.

- Check all seals before installing as follows:



- Weatherstrip (1).
- Sealing tape for screw holes (2) between mechanism guide rail and sun roof base plate.
- Apply the new sealant at the rear of the mechanism guide rail (3) before it is installed in the sun roof base plate according to F17.
- Lead-in for cable sleeve (4).

NOTE If the guide rail has been removed it should be sealed using sealant P/N 686 275-9.
