Interior Lighting Inoperable

NOTE: The door open warning light and passenger light are controlled by separate switches located in the front doors next to the switches for the interior lighting, so that the central locking relay does not control these functions.

Interior lighting delay inoperable as per step 17.
Interior lighting delay does not switch off as per step 18.

I1 Check Fuse 15 And Bulbs

Switch ignition off. Remove fuse 15.
Remove lamp if interior lighting is not working.
Check that bulb and/or fuse 15 in the central fuse module are intact.

If fuse 15 and bulb are intact:
heck interior lighting as per step 12. Replace fuse and bulb.

If fuse 15 or bulb is defective:
Install new bulb and/or fuse 15. Check interior lighting as per step 12.

I2 Checking Interior Lighting

Switch ignition off.
Check that the interior lighting can be turned on and off using the switch on the passenger compartment ceiling light.

If interior lighting can be turned on and off:
Check passenger compartment ceiling light signal lead as per step 13.

If interior lighting cannot be turned on and off:
There is an open-circuit in the supply lead between fuseholder position 11/15:2 for fuse 15 and passenger compartment ceiling light 10/22:1. Correct defect or install new passenger compartment ceiling light supply lead.

I3 Checking Signal Lead To Passenger Compartment Ceiling Light

Switch ignition off.
Set ceiling light switch to activate when door opens.

Remove central locking relay 205/206.

Connect a voltmeter to position LA and position 31 on the relay plinth. Voltmeter should read approximately 0 Volts.

Connect ground to position LA by bridging from position 31 on relay plinth. The interior lighting should come on.

If the interior lighting comes on:
Check that interior lighting works as per step 14.

If voltmeter reads more than 1 Volt:
There is a short-circuit to 12 Volt in the interior lighting signal lead between position LA on relay plinth and passenger compartment ceiling light 10/22:5. Correct defect or install) new passenger compartment ceiling light signal lead. Replace central locking relay 2/7.

If interior lighting does not come on:
There is a short-circuit in the interior lighting signal lead between position LA on relay plinth and passenger compartment ceiling light 10/22:5. Correct defect or install new passenger compartment ceiling light signal lead Replace central locking relay 2/7.

I4 Checking If Interior Lighting Works

Switch ignition off.
Set ceiling light switch to activate when door opens.

Remove central locking relay 205/206.

Close doors and trunk/tailgate. Connect a bridge to position LA by bridging from position T on relay plinth. Interior lighting should come on if any door is opened.

If interior lighting comes on:
Check interior lighting ground lead as per step C21 in CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM COMPLETELY INOP..

If interior lighting does not come on:
Check central locking modules interior lighting switches as per step 15.

I5 Check Central Locking Module Interior Lighting Switches

Switch ignition off.
Replace central locking relay 205/206.
Remove all door panels.
Undo central locking module connectors.

Testing Front Door Central Locking Modules:
Connect an ohmmeter between positions 6 and 14 of the central locking module 14-pin connector.
Ohmmeter should read 0 ohm with the door open.
Ohmmeter should read infinite resistance with the door closed.

Testing rear door central locking modules:
Connect an ohmmeter between positions 2 and 5 of the central locking module 8-pin connector.
Ohmmeter should read 0 ohm with the door open.
Ohmmeter should read infinite resistance with the door closed.

If reading is correct:
Check ground lead to central locking module interior lighting switch as per step 16.

If reading is incorrect:
There is a fault in the central locking module interior lighting switch or cable harness. Correct fault or replace complete central locking module.

I6 Checking Ground Lead To Central Locking Module Interior Lighting Switch

Switch ignition off.
Remove all door panels.
Undo central locking module connectors.

Testing front door central locking modules:
Connect an ohmmeter between position 14 on the central locking module 14-pin connector and ground.
Ohmmeter should read 0 ohm.

Testing rear door central locking modules:
Connect an ohmmeter between position 5 on the cable harness 8-pin connector and ground. Ohmmeter should read 0 ohm.

If reading is correct:
Open-circuit in signal lead between cable harness connector and central locking relay. Correct fault or install new signal lead to central locking relay as per specification below:

Front doors: Signal lead between position 2 on cable harness 14-pin connector and position T on relay plinth.

Rear doors: Signal lead between position 8 on cable harness 8-pin connector and position T on relay plinth.

If reading is incorrect:
Open-circuit or short-circuit in the ground lead between cable harness connector and connection to ground point. Correct fault or install new ground lead as per specification below:

Front doors: Ground lead between position 14 on cable harness 14-pin connector and ground point on A-post driver's side 31/7, passenger side 31/15.

Rear doors: Ground lead between position 5 on cable harness 8-pin connector and ground point left hand cross-member 31/47, right hand cross-member 31/48.

I7 Interior Lighting Delay Inoperable

Switch ignition off.
Remove central locking relay 2/7.

Connect a voltmeter between positions 15 and 31 on relay plinth.
Voltmeter should read 0 Volts.

If reading is correct:
Check interior lighting ground lead as per step C21 in CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM COMPLETELY INOP.

If reading is incorrect:
hort-circuit to 12 Volt in lead between fuseholder position 11/3:2 for fuse 3 and position 15 on relay plinth. Correct fault or install new lead between fuseholder position 11/3:2 and position 15 on relay plinth. Replace central locking relay 2/7.

I8 Interior Lighting Delay Does Not Switch Off

Switch ignition on.
Connect a voltmeter between positions 15 and 31 on relay plinth.
Voltmeter should read battery voltage.

It reading is correct:
Check interior lighting ground lead as per step C21 in CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM COMPLETELY INOP.

If reading is incorrect:
Check supply (15) to fuse 3 in the fusebox as per step 19.

I9 Checking Supply (15) To Fuse 3 In The Fusebox

Switch ignition off.
Remove fuse 3.
Install new fuse if old one has blown.

Switch ignition on.
Connect a voltmeter between fuseholder position 11/3:1 for fuse 3 and ground. Voltmeter should read battery voltage.

If reading is correct:
Open-circuit in lead between fuseholder position 11/3:2 and position 15 on relay plinth. Correct fault or install new lead between fuseholder position 11/3:2 and position 15 on relay plinth. Replace fuse 3. Replace central locking relay 2/7.

If reading is incorrect:
Open-circuit in supply lead to fuseholder position 11/3:1. Correct fault or install new supply lead to fuseholder position 11/3:1. Replace fuse 3. Replace central locking relay 2/7.
