Connect a voltmeter between positions 5 and 1 on the cable harness 5-pin connector. Voltmeter should read battery voltage.
If reading is correct:
Check ignition supply (x) to receiver module as per step G7.
If reading is incorrect:
Open-circuit or short-circuit to ground in receiver module supply lead between position 5 on cable harness 5-pin connector and fuseholder position 11/15:2 for fuse 15. Correct fault or install new receiver module supply lead.
G7 Checking Ignition Supply (x) To Receiver Module
Switch ignition off.
Undo receiver module 5-pin connector.
Connect a voltmeter between positions 1 and 4 on the cable harness 5-pin connector. Voltmeter should read approximately 0 Volts.
Ignition in position I.
Connect a voltmeter between positions 1 and 4 on the cable harness 5-pin connector. Voltmeter should read battery voltage.
If reading is correct:
Check signal lead to central locking relay as per step G8.
If reading is incorrect:
There is an open-circuit or short-circuit in the ignition supply lead between fuseholder position 11/32:2 for fuse 32 and position 4 in the cable harness 5-pin connector. Correct fault or install new ignition supply lead to receiver module.
G8 Checking Signal Lead To Central Locking Relay
Switch ignition off.
Undo receiver module 5-pin connector.
Remove central locking relay 205/206.
Connect an ohmmeter between position 3 on the cable harness 5-pin connector and position ATR on the relay plinth.
Ohmmeter should read approximately 0 ohm.
Connect an ohmmeter between positions 1 and 3 on the cable harness 5-pin connector. Ohmmeter should read infinite resistance.
Connect a voltmeter between positi0ns 1 and 3 on the cable harness 5-pin connector. Voltmeter should read approximately 0 Volts.
If reading is correct:
Check transmitter battery as per step G9.
If reading is incorrect:
Open-circuit or short-circuit in receiver module signal lead between position 3 on cable harness 5-pin connector and position ATR on relay plinth. Correct fault or install new receiver module signal lead. Replace central locking relay 2/7.
G9 Checking Transmitter Battery
Switch ignition off.
Connect receiver module 5-pin connector.
Replace central locking relay 2/7.
NOTE: Avoid touching the transmitter battery contact surfaces (+/- contacts). If you touch the surfaces accidentally, clean them with a degreasing agent before replacing in the transmitter.
Remove transmitter battery cover and take out battery.
Connect a voltmeter between the battery contact surfaces (+/- contacts).
The voltmeter reading should be at least 2.8 Volts.
If reading is correct:
Replace battery and carry out programming of transmitter key code to receiver module as per step G10.
If reading is incorrect:
Replace battery. Test transmitter by pressing buttons LOCK and UNLOCK.
Check that central locking system works. If central locking system does not operate, carry out programming transmitter key code to receiver module as per step G10.
G10 Programming Transmitter Key Code To Receiver Module
NOTE: The transmitter key codes are preprogrammed in the receiver module when the car is delivered. If uncertain about the key code programming reprogram the key codes. If the correct key code is programmed, continue fault tracing at G11.
Switch ignition off.
Reprogram the receiver module as in the REMOTE CONTROL OF CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM, 2 STEP IN DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION. Test transmitter by pressing LOCK and UNLOCK buttons.
