Remote-Controlled Central Locking System, 2-Step




General






The central locking system and factory-fitted alarm can be supplemented by a remote control when delivered from the factory. The system consists of two components:
The transmitter which operates the central locking system.
The receiver module which receives the transmitter's coded radio signals.

Transmitter

The transmitter consists of a radio transmitter which sends a coded signal to the receiver module. The transmitter should not be used more than five meters away from the car to ensure that the receiver module receives the transmitter signal. The transmitter has two buttons, LOCK and UNLOCK. The transmitter prompts the receiver to send a control signal to the central locking relay to lock the car (and activate the basic alarm) when the LOCK button is pressed.






The UNLOCK button prompts the receiver to send a control signal to the central locking relay to unlock the driver's door via a relay and deactivate the basic alarm. Pressing the UNLOCK button again within 10 seconds unlocks all the doors and the trunk/tailgate. If none of the doors or the trunk/tailgate is opened within 30 seconds of pressing UNLOCK for the first time, the doors and trunk/tailgate will be locked and the basic alarm activated. The transmitter runs on a 3 Volt lithium battery type CR2025, with an estimated service life of two years.


NOTE: In some markets, the Guard Alarm II remote control anti-theft alarm is available which also remote-controls the central locking system using a different type of transmitter.


Receiver module






The receiver module receives the transmitter's coded radio signals via its integral antenna. When a signal of the correct frequency is sent, it is decoded and compared with the preprogrammed radio codes stored in the receivers memory. If the code is verified, the receiver transmits a short 12 Volt pulse to the central locking relay to lock the car or a long 12 Volt pulse to unlock it. If the ignition is in position I or II, the receiver will not transmit a locking signal to the central locking relay and the central locking system will not activate.

The receiver module can hold up to three different radio codes, which are not lost if the car battery is disconnected or if the power supply fails. Receiver module connections:
30 Input ignition supply (30) from fusebox position 11/15:1.
31 Ground.
ATR One (or two) short 12 Volt output signals for locking and one long 12 Volt output signal to the central locking relay for unlocking.
X Input ignition supply (15) from fusebox position 11/32:2.


NOTE: Temporary interference in the surrounding area or any modifications to the car which shield the receiver may affect the transmitter's range.

Reprogramming Receiver Module






Both transmitter key codes are preprogrammed in the receiver module when the car is supplied, but can be reprogrammed if a new transmitter is used. When reprogramming the receiver, it is important to enter each unique key code. The receivers memory can hold up to three transmitter codes. Before starting reprogramming, check that the remote control transmitter concerned uses the same frequency as the receiver. The transmitter has a P/N engraved on the underside.

The Procedure For Reprogramming The Receiver Module Is As Follows:


Turn the ignition key to position I or II five times in 10 seconds and leave the ignition on after the fifth time.






Within 30 seconds, press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the transmitter once. All transmitters must be reprogrammed within 30 seconds.





Switch ignition off. Check that each transmitter is working.





NOTE: If neither the LOCK or UNLOCK button is pressed within 30 seconds, no reprogramming will take place and the receiver module will retain the previous key codes.
