Adjusting hood latch

In some cases, especially in older cars, the second hood latch may be hard to open because the hood latch cable is sticking or stretched and only the first hood latch opens. The problem can be solved by filing some plastic off the first hood latch. This is described in this Service Bulletin.

This has been introduced into production from chassis number: 854 (factory code 1) - 286500 854 (factory code 2) - 287000 855 (factory code 2) - 193000

Method:

Remove right hood latch.

See Service Manual Section 8 (82-88, 88) "Interior, exterior 850 1993- TP 8201201

File off plastic at (A) allowing (B) approx. 2 mm (5/64") more movement.

The arm at (C) should not come into contact. If it does, use a 3 mm (1/8") diameter drill to grind it down.

Re-install hood latch and adjust according to Service Manual TP 8201201.
