Moves In Wrong Direction

O A. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information





Condition
Motor 3 controls seat height at the rear edge of the seat. If the control module receives a signal from the potentiometer that motor 3 is turning in the wrong direction diagnostic trouble code (DTC) PSL/PSR-214 is set.

Possible source
- Wiring to motor 3 incorrectly connected.
- Wiring to potentiometer for motor 3 incorrectly connected.
- Defective control module.

Fault symptom(s)
- When the height adjustment control button is pressed to raise the seat rear edge it moves down or vice versa.
- When a memory button is activated the seat rear edge moves in the wrong direction.
- Fault tracing begins at OB. Moves in the wrong direction.

OB1: Checking movement direction
Operate the seat rear edge vertically to raise it and lower it using the control button.

Does the seat rear edge move in the correct direction?

Yes:
- OB3

No:
- OB2









OB2: Switching connections on motor 3
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove seat from car.
- Disconnect black 14-pin connector C.

Switch over the leads:
- Press out pins in pos. 3 (yellow lead) and 4 (green lead) from connector C. Use terminal removal tool 951 2631.
- Switch the leads over and press the pins into the connector.

Then continue with:
- OB5






OB3: Checking wiring in potentiometer 3
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove seat from car.
- Disconnect black 14-pin connector C.
Check that the brown lead is connected to C:14 and the red lead to C:7.

It the leads are in the wrong positions:
- Press out pins C:14 and C:7. Use terminal removal tool 951 2631.
- Switch the leads over and press the pins into the connector.
- Reinstall connector

Were the connections OK?

Yes:
- OB4

No:
- OB5






OB4: Replace component
The motor and potentiometer are correctly connected to the control module.

Try a new control module. Control module, Service and Repair

Then continue with:
- OB5






OB5: Verification
- Ignition OFF.
- Connect up seat in car.
Select scrolling values and read off the value from the potentiometer for motor 3.

Operate the seat rear edge, raising and lowering it by using the control button.

The value should increase when the seat is moved up at the rear edge and decrease when it is moved down.

If reading is OK:
- Fault corrected

If reading is incorrect:
- OB6


OB6: Fault-tracing information
The verification result shows that the fault persists.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?

Yes:
- Fault not corrected

No:
- OB1
