DTC 4-1-1
DTC 4-1-1. PASSENGER COMPARTMENT FAN OVERCURRENT OR SEIZED FAN:- Condition for DTC:
If signal from passenger compartment fan is too high, the control module records the fault and stores the DTC.
- Cause of fault:
Fault in passenger compartment fan (defective fan motor or fan rotor seized).
- Symptoms:
Fault warning to driver. LEDs by A/C and REC buttons flash for 20 sec. Control module keeps passenger compartment fan shut off as long as fault persists.
Check Passenger Compartment Fan
- Ignition off.
- Undo wire connector and disconnect passenger compartment Fan Motor from A/C system.
- Using your hands, see it fan rotor blade turns freely with the fan removed.
- Check fan location in A/C system, that there is enough clear space for the fan rotor and there is nothing causing it to stick.
- If there is a blockage:
Rectify blockage.
Check DTC. Test Procedures
- If fan rotor will not turn or is sluggish:
Replace fan and refit in reverse order.

- If passenger compartment fan is OK:
Check DTC. Test Procedures
If DTC recurs, this may mean there is a fault in the power stage surge protector.
This fault usually occurs with the temperature switches on max. heating or cooling while changing the fan switch quickly from 0 0 to max. Replace power stage.
