DTC 1-3-5

DTC 1-3-5. ENGINE TEMPERATURE NO FREQUENCY SIGNAL:

- Condition for DTC:
If signal from engine temperature is missing or is shorted, the control module records the fault and stores the DTC.

- Cause of fault:
Open circuit or short in wire. There may also be a fault in the signal from the ignition system.

- Symptoms:
Fault warning to driver. LEDs by A/C and REC buttons flash for 20 sec. Control module ignores faulty signal and substitutes a preset value equivalent to approx. 88 °C (190 °F).

Check Engine Temperature Sensor
Run engine. Is engine temperature sensor working?
- If YES, if the engine temperature sensor is working, this means the engine temperature signal is reaching the combined instrument panel, but the wire to the ECC control module is broken. Check wire between ECC connector A pin A:23 to control module and branching point 24/13:32 for open circuit. Checking Wires
Rectify open circuit.
Check DTC. Test Procedures
- If NO, if the engine temperature sensor is not working, there are two possibilities:
Short in the circuit.
There is no engine temperature signal from the engine system.
Go to the next step "Check Wire".

Check Wire:

Ignition off. Check wire between ECC connector A pin A:23 to control module and branching point 24/13:32 for short. Checking Wires
- If short found. Rectify short.
Check DTC. Test Procedures
- If no fault found:
For further fault-tracing. Use diagnostic system and read off codes for engine system.
