DTC 1-2-1
DTC 1-2-1. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE SENSOR GROUND SHORT:- Condition for DTC:
If signal from outside temperature sensor has a ground short (0 V), the control module will record the fault and store the DTC.
- Cause of fault:
GND short in outside temperature sensor or wire.
- Symptoms:
Fault warning to driver. Air-conditioning (A/C) and REC LEDs flash for 20 sec.
The control module cuts out the faulty signal and substitutes a preset replacement value equivalent to 0°C.
Connect Test Unit To Control Module:
- Ignition off.
- Connect test unit between control module and A/C system connector and check GND points. Connecting and Disconnecting Test Unit
- Go to the next step "Check Wire Resistance".
Check Wire Resistance:
- Ignition off.
- Disconnect adapter from control module.
- Disconnect connector from outside temperature sensor. Service and Repair
- Connect an ohmmeter across # 10 and # 14.
- If ohmmeter reading is 0 ohm, GND short in wire.
- Check wire between connector pin 1 and connector A pin A:14 to control module for GND short. Checking Wires
- Rectify GND short.
- Check DTC. Test Procedures
- If ohmmeter reading is infinite, wire is OK. Go to the next step "Check Outside Temperature Sensor".
Check Outside Temperature Sensor:
- Ignition off.
- Disconnect connector from outside temperature sensor.
- Connect an ohmmeter across outer temperature sensor pins 1 and 2.
If value is OK, ohmmeter reading should be approx. 8 - 12 K ohms.
If not, if ohmmeter reading is 0 ohm, there is a GND short in the outside temperature sensor. Replace outside temperature sensor and fit in reverse order.
- Check DTC. Test Procedures
