CI-231 Control Module

Condition:





- Internal fault in combined instrument panel microprocessor.

Possible Source:
- Internal fault in combined instrument panel microprocessor.

Fault Symptom(s):
- The combined instrument panel may display no visible symptoms of this diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

Start fault-tracing with "Internal fault", below.

Internal Fault:

1) Status Check:

Ignition On:

- Ignition on.





- Read off diagnostic trouble code (DTC) counter and note value.
- Is counter value greater than 0?

Yes: Go to step 5, below.
No: Go to step 2, below.

2) Data Read-Out:
- Read off all data from the combined instrument panel control module and note values. Diagnostic Functions
- Then continue with step 3, below.

3) Replacing Component:





- Try a new printed circuit board. Service and Repair (Individual Component Replacement)
- Then continue with step 4, below.

4) Programming Combined Instrument Panel:
- Program the control module with the values previously read off the combined instrument panel control module. Diagnostic Functions
- The operation is now done.

5) Faulty Signal, Intermittent Fault:
- Combined instrument panel control module OK.
- Erase diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
- Continue with step 6.

6) Fault-Tracing Information:
- For intermittent faults fault-tracing is not followed by a verification because the fault is not present at this moment.
- Do you want to repeat fault-tracing?

Yes: Start testing over at step 1, above.
No: Operation done
