Required Tools and Materials

This procedure describes how to replace these wheel-speed-sensor harness splices. This procedure should only be followed on M/Y 1996 850's without the green dot as illustrated under Electrical distribution unit, overview.

When splicing has been completed check the ABS system according to test program.

Required tools:

Supplemental wiring repair kit 951 2647-0

wire stripping tool (included in repair kit) 951 2620-7

Crimping tool (included in repair kit) 951 2649-6

Soldering iron

Hot-air gun

For checking:

25-pin adapter 951 1354-4

Break-out box 961 3190-7

Required materials:

Crimping sleeves 4 967777-4

Heat-shrinkable tubing 4 1095431-1

Solder

It is important to use soldering wire with a high quality non-corrosive flux. Use 50-50 or 60A0 rosin core solder.

Do not use acid flux solder (e.g. plumbing solder) as this will cause oxidation.
