Rear Lights
Rear lights, 4-door models.
The picture shows the position of the light on the LH side. The RH side is the same, but the other way round.
1 + 4 = Rear light.
2 = Rear light.
3 = Dipped rear light, LH side only (LHD cars only).
5 = Flashers.
6 = Brake light.
Rear cluster, replacing bulbs
Replace bulbs in rear cluster from trunk.
- Open cover in front of rear cluster.
- Pinch spring clips together and remove bulb holder.
- Replace blown bulb.
- Assemble in reverse order.
Check that all lights are working properly.
Rear cluster complete, replacement
- Open cover in front of rear cluster.
- Undo rear cluster connector and towing hook connector if fitted.
- Undo the four nuts holding the rear cluster and remove cluster backwards.
- Reassemble in reverse order.
Check seal and fit when assembling.
Check that all lights work.
Rear lights, 5-door models.
Starting from the top, the lamps are as follows:
1 = Flashers
2 = Brake light
3 = Rear light
4 = Reversing light
5 = Rear light, and dipped rear light on LH side (LHD models only).
Upper rear light, replacing bulb
Rear cluster bulbs are replaced from inside the passenger compartment.
- Open cover with a flat screwdriver.
- Press the catch down and remove the lamp holder Replace blown lamp.
- Reassemble in reverse order. Check that catch locks onto light casing properly.
Check that all lights are working.
Lower rear cluster, replacing bulbs
- Remove outer rear floor cover.
- Turn locking clip a quarter of a turn on the cover in front of the rear cluster and remove cover by pushing it down slightly.
- Pinch the two catches together and lift out the lamp holder.
- Replace blown bulb.
- Reassemble in reverse order Make sure all catches lock in place properly.
Check that all lights are working.
Rear cluster, complete, replacement
The rear cluster is divided into an upper and lower casing.
Always remove the upper casing first, as it overlaps the lower
Replacing upper rear cluster
- Open cover with a flat-bladed screwdriver.
- Press catch down and pull lamp holder out.
- Remove the two nuts holding the rear cluster. Use a long socket.
- Undo connector.
- Remove rear cover and clean bodywork contact surfaces.
- Install new rear cluster.
- Refit connector and cover
Check that everything fits properly into place.
Replacing lower rear cluster
- Remove upper rear cluster.
- Remove floor panel and cover in front of rear cluster.
- Pinch the two hook catches together and lift out lamp holder.
- Fold floor panel up and unscrew sill guard.
- Undo roof panels to allow access to undo nuts holding rear cover (use long socket).
- Remove rear cluster and clean bodywork contact surfaces.
- Install new rear cluster
- Refit connector and other components.
Check that both upper and lower light clusters fit body properly.
