Headlamp: Service and Repair
Single-Bulb Headlight, Replacement:
- Disconnect battery negative lead.
- Remove cover and connector. See Headlamp Bulb replacement. Service and Repair
If working on LH headlight:
- Lift battery out for better accessibility.
If working on RH headlight:
- Remove ventilation pipe to control module box.
- Pull up and remove washer fluid filler pipe.
- Unhook diagnostic unit and lay to one side.
- Unhook side cluster and lift off. Let it hang from its leads.
- Watch out for paint on bumper if car has color-coordinated bumpers.
- Using a tape measure, measure hood lock position vertically (see Image).
- The hood lock has slot-shaped holes and is adjusted to put the hood in the correct vertical position with its rubber stop.
- Undo the two screws holding the hood hook and put them aside to get at the outer two headlight casing retaining screws.
- Unscrew the three screws holding the headlight casing and lift the casing out.
- Assemble in reverse order:
- Adjust hood lock height to value you noted before you removed it.
Bulb casing torque setting: 10 Nm (7,5 ft.lbf) hood lock: 25 Nm (18 ft.lbf).
- Connect battery.
- Close hood and check fit.
- Check that alarm works on cars fitted with alarm.
- Adjust headlights. Adjustments
Two-Bulb Headlight, Replacement
Same as Single-bulb procedure, except that the connector with the incoming leads is undone from the lower part of the headlight casing.
