Functions
Activation
The alarm is activated by the "LOCK" button on the remote control or by locking either front door or the trunk (boot) using the standard door keys (not all markets). The central locking system's setting device and lock cylinder microswitches, or the remote control, send signals to the central locking relay which in turn sends a control signal to the alarm control module.
After 5 seconds, the indicator LED goes out and starts flashing. This indicates that the alarm has been activated (guard mode). If any of the doors, the hood (bonnet) or trunk (boot) is open when the system is activated, the LED will not light. When the doors, hood (bonnet) or trunk (boot) are closed, the LED will start flashing to indicate that all alarm loops have been activated.
NOTE: The alarm will not activate with the ignition on.
Deadlock
If the car is fitted with a deadlock (see Central Locking under Body and Frame, power locks). Central locking system with deadlock, the alarm will only be activated when the deadlock is on.
Deactivation
The alarm is deactivated by pressing the "UNLOCK" button on the remote control, or unlocking either front door or the trunk (boot), using the standard door key (not all markets). The LED indicator will then go out immediately.
Remote Control Key Code
For programing the remote control key code, (see Central locking inoperable remote.)
When The Alarm Is Triggered The Car Is Protected By:
The standard door contacts.
The contact on the LH hood (bonnet) catch.
The standard contact on the rear window.
The start inhibitor which prevents anyone starting the engine once the alarm has gone off, e.g. by trying to hot-wire it.
The Alarm Will Be Triggered If:
The doors, hood (bonnet) or tailgate are opened. The ignition is switched on (or someone tries to hot-wire the starter motor). When the alarm is triggered the horn or siren sounds for 30 seconds and the turn signals (indicators) flash for 2 minutes. During those 2 minutes, the indicator LED will remain on and then start flashing rapidly.Once deactivated by using the "UNLOCK" button on the remote control or the standard door keys (i.e. unlocking from the locked position), the LED will stay on, and then go out when the ignition is switched on.
The alarm will be triggered again if: the intruder makes another attempt, and leaves the car doors open after attempting to steal it, if alarm loop is triggered by another source or the ignition is switched on.
NOTE: No more than 3 alarms can be triggered per alarm loop in any activation period.
