Components
Basic Alarm Components:
LED Located At Center Of Dashboard:
1. Hood (bonnet) contact
2. Horn (or siren)
3. Indicator LED in center of instrument panel (dashboard)
4. Alarm control module
5. Remote control
1. Hood (bonnet) Contact
The LH hood (bonnet) catch has an integral contact which grounds when the hood (bonnet) is opened.
2. Audible/Visible Signal
When the alarm is triggered, it sets off a separate horn (or siren) in the engine compartment and a visible alarm via the car's standard turn signals (indicators) to attract attention.
3. Indicator LED
Basic Alarm LED In Center Of Dashboard:
The indicator LED is fitted in the center of the instrument panel (dashboard). The LED is in an integral plastic casing. If the car is also fitted with ECC, the sun sensor is integral with the indicator LED casing.
The LED Works As Follows:
Activating the alarm: The LED stays on for five seconds before the alarm switches to monitoring mode, and then flashes once every two seconds.
Alarm activated, fault in some alarm loop: LED is off.
Alarm has been triggered: The LED stays on for the first two minutes, then flashes rapidly.
Once the alarm has been activated and then deactivated: LED stays on until ignition is switched on.
4. Alarm Control Module
Basic Alarm System Relay:
The control module is mounted on the relay plinth (positions 210/211) in the passenger compartment fusebox. There are three integral relays for:
Start inhibitor, Visual signal and Horn signal.
5. Door Keys Or Remote Control
The system is operated by the central locking remote control or by the standard door key in the front doors locks or trunk (boot), and varies on some models. See Central Locking and central locking remote control.
